What's there left to do but let the anchor go Picked up and blown away by winds that never know Maybe I'll see you all when I've blown round the world I'll just have to see where I will be hurled Crowns are smashed and broken Thrones are firewood Hieroglyphic horrors I never understood Pipe dreams in the sewer Floating out to sea Balene Bonanza So I realized with a heavy heart To participate first I had to start But I am inside a turducken cell No cake and no file and never any mail There's no going back to El Dorado Crowns are smashed and broken Thrones are firewood Hieroglyphic horrors I never understood Pipe dreams in the sewer Floating out to sea Scoff it down Crowns are smashed and broken Thrones are firewood Hieroglyphic horrors I never understood Pipe dreams in the sewer Floating out to sea Balene Bonanza

Frenzy 04:22
You just have to take to the air Coz in the ocean and on the mainland There's no open arms for you there Coz your point of view hasn't been canned They will strip you just like a cow Eaten by piranhas in frenzy You better keep your feet off the ground Coz when they get a look at you, they'll be Trying to make cadavers agree and feel love and get on a knee Trying to make cadavers agree to live on land or die in the sea Live on land or die in the sea You just have to take to the air Coz in the ocean and on the mainland There's no open arms for you there Coz your point of view hasn't been canned Trying to make cadavers agree and feel love and get on a knee Trying to make cadavers agree to live on land or die in the sea Trying to make cadavers agree and feel love and get on a knee Trying to make cadavers agree to live on land or die in the sea Live on land or die in the sea Live on land or die in the sea Live on land or die in the sea

I had a face Pasted in place Made out of paper paste and paint It wasn't bad I felt like I had All of the mannerisms great and then the rain No not again Syco I'm in the castle on the hill Syco Watching the town Wearing my crown Made from an ice cream container I'd study them all I'd see how they'd fall And it would never reoccur and that would stick It's quite a trick Syco I'm in the castle on the hill Syco Syco I'm in the castle on the hill Syco Syco My mother knows and loves me still Syco Syco syco syco syco syco

We've got to move things along And let you know what is wrong We'll take the wheel The paints are thrown at the wall Has no control as it falls Please walk away We'll take the wheel We've all moved on You gave us all your best days But losing touch That isn't wrong It's time that you walked away You're up there with all the greats But now your eyes are third rate We'll take the wheel We've all moved on You gave us all your best years But losing touch That isn't wrong It's time that you walked away It's time that you walked away It's time for you to walk away, walk away, walk away It's time for you to walk away It's time for you to walk away, walk away, walk away It's time for you to walk away, walk away

Your world can take its victory medal I'm happy in the stands Phantoms will dance and celebrate it all Enjoy the marching band You are a storm from which to take shelter I won’t anthropomorphize It's money for old rope in your universe But that world has metastasized Shoes are walking, lipstick talking, gloves are tapping phones Pants are riding, shirts residing, they're all hiding bones Your world can take its victory medal I'm happy in the stands Phantoms will dance and celebrate it all Enjoy the marching band Shoes are Gloves are Pants are They're all hiding bones Shoes are walking, lipstick talking, gloves are tapping phones Pants are riding, shirts residing, they're all hiding bones Shoes are walking, lipstick talking, gloves are tapping phones Pants are riding, shirts residing, they're all hiding bones

Never ending glory Algae in bloom Smothering the fishes It's all for you Won't be complete till you are the last alive But who'll witness all the golden words arrive The thing you're after Well, you're the crafter But if you're not careful, one day You're gonna go and get your way Nobody wants that Never ending glory Algae in bloom Smothering the fishes It's all for you Won't be complete until you are the last alive But who'll witness all the golden words arrive End well, don't foul your life End well, don't foul your life End well, don't foul your life I said now end well, don't foul your life

Lend me the time Monkey's hurt Monkey talks fine But he's a child Lend me the time Monkey's hurt Monkey talks fine He's too young so I'm on a quest for fire It's gonna change my mind I'm on a quest for fire But I just can't seem to find I've got a different story, but I'm no liar I'm no liar, I'm no liar Cause and effect are things for gods Lend me the time Monkey's hurt Monkey talks fine But he's a child Lend me the time Monkey's hurt Monkey talks fine He's too young so Lend me the time Monkey's hurt Monkey talks fine But he's a child Lend me the time Monkey's hurt Monkey talks fine He's too young so Lend me the time Monkey's hurt Monkey talks fine He's too young so

Tell the kids there's tigers and that they rule Sure it's cool to love but the world's a fool And the kind of folks that wind up on top Are all rotgut whisky, they're soda pop Here there be tigers Here there be tigers Tell the kids to just keep on looking round Keep an open mind, but don't watch the ground Fairy tales are all just pie in the sky Yeah, here there be tigers they'll catch their eye Here there be tigers Here there be tigers Here there be tigers Here there be tigers Tell the kids there's tigers and that they rule Sure it's cool to love but the world's a fool The world's a fool

As soon as I wake up I know I must rake up The scales that the planet has shed The piles keep on growing The seeds keep on sowing A new world has grown on the bread And money won't fix it coz that only tricks it a while I could be a Buddhist, but that's just a robot with style There's an f plus for trying There's no use in denying Better luck with the next thing As soon as the birds sing I must start confessing Just where I fell short in the plan Perfection blows a kiss And manages to miss It slips every time through my hands And money won't fix it coz that only tricks it a while I could be a Buddhist, but that's just a robot with style There's an f plus for trying There's no use in denying Better luck with the next thing There's an f plus for trying There's no use in denying Better luck with the next thing Well let me add, your project had some bells and whistles that were nice But on a whole you did just roll the dice There was no rhyme or reason; everything just seemed to be made in the night

about

Cheersquad Records & Tapes is excited to announce Link McLennan’s first release under the moniker Bagful of Beez, ‘Do Androids Dream of Electric Beatles’. Link is the founding member of seminal Australian acts The Meanies, Tomorrow People, The Bakelite Age and Sun God Replica, amongst others. His latest project Bagful of Beez is a melting pot of all those acts, and the results are astounding.

‘Do Androids Dream of Electric Beatles’ will be release this September on limited edition, marbled green 12” vinyl, black vinyl and digitally.

Bagful of Beez music is a brilliant and eclectic mix of classic pop styles, and the result is the sort of everything-including-the-kitchen-sink approach that studio-enamored pop savants have been known to take ever since Todd Rundgren recorded “A Wizard, A True Star”.  Link recorded the album completely by himself, playing all instruments. He has played out solo with a drum machine as Bagful of Beez a couple of times in recent months, but has just enlisted Even drummer Matt Cotter to ensure a stronger live presence. (Even of course is also the second home of Link’s Meanies bandmate Wally, and Even’s Ashley Naylor has also performed with Link in the Meanies on occasion.)

“I have a strange feeling that the creation of my debut Bagful of Beez album was like feeding all the music of my past bands to an Asian palm civet (a weird cat/raccoon type creature), but instead of it shitting out an expensive coffee, it defecated a bunch of songs that are unique, exciting and cohesive. I've never felt so confident about a collection of my songs being so fully realised, and it leaves me with a powerful desire to keep creating and evolving within the wide parameters of Bagful of Beez. With the recent addition of Matthew Cotter (Even) on drums, it all feels perfectly satisfying.” - Link McLennan
